Skill based Capacity Building for Farm Women on Mushroom cultivation and Vermi-compost

One day training programme was organized at ICAR-CIWA, Bhubaneswar on 01.03.2023 to create awareness and skill development of farm women on “Skill based Capacity Building for Farm Women on Mushroom cultivation and Vermi-compost". This training programme was conducted in collaboration with the NGO - Tanager International. Dr. Mridula Devi, Director, in her speech stressed upon the contribution of mushroom cultivation and vermicomposting for livelihood improvement and entrepreneurship opportunities for farm women. She also highlighted the importance of organic farming on human health and environment. Dr. Sabita Mishra, discussed the use of vermicompost for reviving soil health for income generation of rural women. Dr. Tania Seth, briefed about mushroom cultivation for nutritional and economic security of farmwomen. At the end of the training programme, participatory demonstrations on straw mushroom cultivation and vermicomposting were conducted. A total of 10 Women FPO members from Balipatna (District-Khordha) and Nimapara (District-Puri) were participated in the training programme. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Sabita Mishra, Dr. Tania Seth, Mr. B. C. Behera and Mrs. Tapaswini Sahoo.
