Field Day on Composite Carp Farming

A field day on Composite Carp Farming” was organized on 8th December 2022 at Village Dubuduba, Satyabadi Block, Puri District adopted under Institute project “Development of nutri smart villages for food security and dietary diversity for combating malnutrition” by ICAR- Central Institute for Women in Agriculture, Bhubaneswar. During the programme the farmers harvested Indian Major Carps which were stocked in homestead and community ponds in the month of February 2022. The farmers are resorting to multiple stocking multiple harvesting wherein continuous availability of fish and income is ensured. The programme was co-ordinated by Dr Jyoti Nayak and Dr Tanuja S. The women farmers displayed the nutri-gardens, oyster mushroom farming units and vermicompost units. Dr Jyoti Nayak explained about the importance of layout and plotting in nutri-gardens and the need to maintain the proper spacing between plants. Dr Tanuja S advised the farmers to prepare the ponds for stocking of next batch of fish fingerlings by application of required dose of lime and manure. Seeds of French bean and dolichos bean procured under SCSP scheme were distributed to the SC farm women. The programme was attended by around 30 farm women.
