Capacity Building Programme on Promoting Technological and Economic Empowerment of Women Farmers through Gender Friendly Farming Techniques

ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture (ICAR-CIWA), Bhubaneswar conducted a four days Trainers’ Training programme on Promoting Technological and Economic Empowerment of Women Farmers through Gender Friendly Farming Techniques sponsored by ATMA, Valsad, Gujarat from 14-17 October,2019.About 20 Progressive farm women along with 4 Extension officers of Valsad district participated in this training Programme.The training aimed at empowering women farmers both technologically and economically through gender friendly farming techniques. The training schedule for the farmers was prepared keeping in mind their need, availability of time and practical utility of the courses. Training module consists of 13 theory classes, 2 practical classes and 2 visits. The lectures and presentations of this training covered all the important segments of agriculture and its allied sectors (Crops, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and enterprise based)and how the women farmers can get more benefit from it. The training focused on applied and practical methods by using brainstorming sessions, collective interactions, group discussions. Pre and Post knowledge evaluation has been conducted through a proper questionnaire.
The training was inaugurated on 14.10.2019 by Dr. S.K. Srivastava, Hon’ble Director, ICAR-CIWA. In his address he explained them how this training can be helpful for their capacity building and in their day to day life and highlighting the different women specific activities taken up by the Institute. At the outset, Dr. Lipi Das, Course Director welcomed the trainees and described briefly about the training schedule consisting of both methodological and practical aspects prepared as per the need and relevancy of the farm women. Course Coordinators Dr. Charles Jeeva and Gayatri Moharana expressed their gratitude to all the trainees and dignitaries at the end of the inauguration programme Four Farm Women Leaders have been selected by using Socio-metric method. At the end prizes, certificates, group photographs and training manual were distributed to the participants.
