Department of Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment, Govt. of Odisha in collaboration with CII organized KRUSHI ODISHA 2019 during 15-19 January, 2019 at Biju Patnayak Exhibition Ground, Bhubaneswar. ICAR-CIWA participated in the exhibition in which about 15 thousand farmers from different corner of Odisha visited the exhibition stall daily. On 19th January, 2019, a seminar on "Women in Agriculture" was organised which was coordinated by Director, ICAR-CIWA, Dr. S. K. Srivastava. During the seminar, three MOUs were exchanged between OUAT and Directorate of Mission Shakti, Govt. of Odisha on 'Capacity Building of Women SHGs through KVKs', Directorate of Mission Shakti and Directorate of Horticulture on 'Mushroom and Vegetable cultivation on commercial scale' and Directorate of Mission Shakti and Directorate of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, Odisha on 'Deep litter system in mini poultry unit to be raised by Women SHG'. Eminent speakers like Dr. S. K. Srivastava, Director, ICAR-CIWA, Mrs. Sujata Kartikeyan, Commissioner, Mission Shakti, Govt. of Odisha, Ms. Nidhi Srinivas, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, New Delhi, Ms. Kavitha Kuruganti, ASHA, New Delhi, Dr. A. K. Mishra, Principal Scientist and Head, NDRI, Karnal, Dr. Abha Singh, Principal Scientist, ICAR-CISH, Lucknow, Mr. Braja Bandhu Swain, Scientist, ILRI, Odisha and Dr. Ranjitha Puskur, Sr. Scientist, IRRI, Odisha Project delivered their speech on various aspects related to women in agriculture viz. role of ICAR-CIWA, empowerment of WSHGs through Govt. schemes and programmes, market integration, empowering through access and entitlement, value addition, nutrition security, women in livestock, women in rice production and strategies for gender mainstreaming. About 300 participants including women and men farmers, students, educationalists, researchers and other stake holders participated in the seminar. Dr. Sabita Mishra and Dr. Lipi Das coordinated the sessions. Organizers issued participation certificate signed by Director, Agriculture & Food Production, Odisha and highly appreciated the active participation of ICAR-CIWA during the Krushi Odisha, 2019.
