ICAR-CIWA Disseminated Technologies for Youth in Science Exhibition

ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture has showcased various gender friendly technologies in the Exposition and Open day at Institute of Life Sciences, Bhubaneswar from 22-23 September, 2018. The exhibition was inaugurated by Shri Nikunja Bihari Dhal, IAS, Principal Secretary to Government, Excise and Science & Technology Departments, Government of Odisha. During the occasion, ICAR-CIWA displayed its models of drudgery reducing technologies such as pedal operated paddy thresher, maize dehusker-sheller, head load manager, hand ridger, tools for storage pest management etc. The models and methodologies related to livelihood and nutrition security of farm families especially for rural and urban youth displayed in the stall and explained to more than 750 school students, youth, researchers and higher officials. Literatures were distributed for wide dissemination of technical knowledge, skill and awareness generation. It has been observed that young boys were more interested towards learning operation of farm tools and machineries where as young girls shows more interest towards nutrition garden, backyard poultry, food processing and value addition. Miss Gayatri Moharana, Scientist and Mr. Sanjay Kumar Behera and Mrs Usharani, M., Technical Assistants displayed and explained about the ICAR-CIWA technologies during this Science Exhibition and the dignitaries appreciated the efforts made by the Institute. The personnel from print and television media attended the programme for wide coverage and sensitizing youth towards science.
