‘National Science Day’ celebrated at village Balarampur in Athagarh Block of Cuttack District

‘National Science Day’ was celebrated on 28th February, 2018 at village Balarampur in Athagarh Block of Cuttack district.The programme was inaugurated by Dr. S.K. Srivastava, Director, ICAR-CIWA who briefed about the significance of celebrating ‘National Science Day’ and the theme 'Science and Technology for a Sustainable Future'. In the technical session, the queries of farm families were addressed on scientific methods of increasing productivity in horticultural crops, and the pest and disease management in livestock and poultry. As part of the celebration, an 'Agricultural Quiz' programme was also conducted among the school children and farm women, and distributed prizes for the winners. A debate on the theme of the Day was also organized in which, about seven farm women participated.
A total of 150 farm women, students and many progressive farmers from four villages viz; Nuagada, Baulapada, Balarampur and Balisahi of Athagarh block of Cuttack district attended the programme and also actively participated in quiz and debate competitions.
The participants including the children were also sensitized about the ‘Swachch Bharat Abhiyan’ and the significance of keeping the surroundings neat and tidy. The programme was organized by Dr. Biswanath Sahoo, Dr. J. Charles Jeeva, Ms. Gayatri Moharana, Smt. Tapaswini Sahoo, and Dr. A.K. Panda, Nodal Officer, ‘National Science Day’ programme.
