The Women Leadership for Impact Course (21-27 October, 2016)

A Training Programme was organized on "Women Leadership for Impact" during 21-27 October, 2016 by International Rice Research Institute, Philippines at ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture, Bhubaneswar. Representatives from different NGOs working towards agriculture and livelihood in Odisha participated in the programme. It was a very educative event in which 20 participants participated and shared their varied experiences for building the women leadership. Dr. Jatinder Kishtwaria, Director, ICAR-CIWA delivered the welcome address and Dr. Myriam Morgenstein, IRRI, initiated the programme after offering opening remarks. Eminent scientists and experts from different institutes such as Dr. Ahmad Salahuddin of Access Agriculture, Dr. Poornima Shankar, IRRI (India Office),Dr. Jatinder Kishtwaria, Dr. Sabita Mishra and Dr. Jyoti Nayak of ICAR-CIWA, Dr. Tushar Nayak, MSSRF, Mr. Suryakanta Khandei and Ms. Bharti, IRRI, Ms. Ronali Pradhan, Digital Green and Mr. Dibyakanta, Reliance Foundation contributed immensely in putting forth their ideas regarding empowerment and leadership issues of women in agriculture, women friendly technology, business principles and models for agriculture, nature of leadership, the art of listening, finance and accountancy, SWOT analysis, positive deviants, extension methods for scaling up impact, self awareness and priorities of rural women and men in agriculture etc. There was a great synergy created when all these persons came together to talk about and churn out skills for leadership to ensure that the benefits of development to reach women as much as men.
